Berkshire Connections* for Women

Join us for our comprehensive prenatal and postnatal support program for women with a history of substance use. This program is designed to better help women and they babies during pregnancy and after birth. You don’t have to walk the road of recovery alone. The Berkshire Connection team is here to help every step of the way.

Who Should Join?

Anyone who is pregnant or has recently given birth and is also a current or former substance-user can sign up to receive support services.

Why is this Different than Other Recovery Programs?

We know that transitioning from pregnancy to parenthood can be complicated and overwhelming. As a participant in this program, you will work with a personalized care team, including a recovery coach, to help create a plan for recovery and identify any needs that you or your baby may have.

Each care team ensures that there are no gaps in your treatment plan. If we do not have an immediate answer to a problem, promise that we will work to find a solution.

*This program is made possible in part thanks to the support of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Health Policy Commission.

Plan of Safe Care

In some cases, when a mother with a history of substance use disorder gives birth, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) may become involved. Working with DCF can create anxiety for new parents, but Berkshire Connections is here to help.

We work with you using the Journey Recovery Project’s “Birth Planning Kit” to help prepare you for a DCF investigation. An important part of this preparation is creating a Plan of Safe Care for your child.

The care team will help you to compile all the necessary information for the plan, including drug screening records, letters of support, confirmation of engagement letters from outside resources, and a safety and wellness plan.

By regularly partnering with you on this planning process, you will develop the confidence and ability to take important steps in your recovery and enjoy a safe and healthy lifestyle.
