Berkshire Health System Pharmacies are a crucial link in the healthcare system, ensuring the safe and effective distribution of prescription and over-the-counter medications. We also offer valuable services such as medication counseling, dosage management, vaccinations, and patient education, contributing to the overall well-being of individuals and communities.

Community Pharmacy

We have three retail pharmacies—located in Pittsfield, North Adams, and Williamstown, all of which are open to the public for prescription services, refills, and certain over-the-counter medications and personal care items.

Our pharmacies also offer (at some locations):

  • Free home delivery by FedEx or courier (depending on address)
  • Immunizations
  • Meds-On-Time (Bundling of multiple medications into easy-to-use packets)
  • Pet medications
  • Common over-the-counter medications
  • Personal care items such as shampoos and sunscreens

Specialty Pharmacy

Specialty Pharmacy

Berkshire Health Systems Specialty Pharmacy plays a pivotal role in delivering specialized pharmaceutical services to cater to unique and complex medical needs. Situated within our healthcare ecosystem, the specialty pharmacy is equipped to handle medications for various complex conditions or require special handling and administration. One distinctive feature is the presence of dedicated liaisons who work closely with patients to maintain a structured refill schedule. These liaisons provide valuable support by offering guidance on medication adherence, addressing concerns, and coordinating with healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans. At our specialty pharmacy, we prioritize not only the provision of specialized medications but also the cultivation of a supportive environment where patients can confidently manage their healthcare journey.

Inpatient Pharmacy

Inpatient Pharmacy

Within the hospital, the inpatient pharmacy is responsible for preparing and dispensing medications prescribed to patients during their stay. This includes ensuring accurate dosages, appropriate formulations, and timely delivery to nursing units. Moreover, the inpatient pharmacy collaborates closely with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy, address potential drug interactions, and contribute to patient safety. A notable program is the meds-to-beds initiative, which facilitates the seamless transition of care for discharged patients. Through this program, the inpatient pharmacy ensures that patients leave the hospital with their prescribed medications in hand, promoting medication adherence and continuity of care during the crucial post-discharge period. This patient-centric approach not only enhances the overall quality of healthcare within the hospital but also strengthens the connection between the hospital and the community it serves.
