Our Residency Programs
As a teaching hospital, Berkshire Medical Center has provided Residents and Fellows exceptional training for more than fifty years.
We are proud to be affiliated with The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Boston University.
The General Surgery Residency Program at Berkshire Medical Center provides an excellent learning environment for those seeking a career in general surgery and those interested in further sub-specialty training. The program is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for continued accreditation for 10 Categorical Positions and 2 preliminary positions.
As a residency, we are committed to providing exceptional clinical education to produce highly-qualified future primary care, hospitalist, and subspecialist physicians. Our residency leadership is committed to collaborating with our residents to provide a community atmosphere to support growth and independence throughout training.
There is a rich curriculum of seminars taught throughout the four years that both meet and surpass the program requirements for certification in psychiatry. Didactic seminars take place twice each week. The program also offers yoga-mindfulness training, resilience and self-care training, extensive training in the psychiatric interview, fostering healthy patient-physician relationships, world-view and spirituality seminars and a host of other offerings that help the psychiatric resident evolve into an ever more grounded clinician, teacher and leader ready to face the public health challenges before us.
Berkshire Medical Center has a firm commitment to providing a complete osteopathic medical education for all osteopathic trainees who participate in our varied teaching programs.
